Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Belgravia Carpet Cleaners is committed to operating responsibly, ethically, and with integrity in all business dealings. We recognise our responsibility to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. This statement outlines the steps we take to identify, prevent, and address risks of modern slavery in accordance with our values and legal obligations.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Belgravia Carpet Cleaners provides professional carpet and upholstery cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our supply chain includes providers of cleaning products and equipment, consumables, uniforms, subcontracted cleaning support, and certain facilities and maintenance services. We recognise that some sectors of the cleaning and facilities industry can be more vulnerable to labour exploitation, and we therefore apply enhanced vigilance and due diligence in these areas.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage, child labour, and exploitation. This applies to our own operations, our employees, agency workers, contractors, and all suppliers who support our services. We will not knowingly work with any individual, business, or organisation involved in such practices and will take immediate action to terminate relationships where credible evidence of modern slavery emerges.
Our zero-tolerance approach is embedded in our internal policies, contracts, and supplier terms. Management at all levels is responsible for ensuring that this policy is understood, implemented, and upheld consistently across the business.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and to comply with relevant labour, employment, and human rights legislation. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing management processes, we assess the risk profile of each supplier based on sector, geography, and the nature of the goods or services provided.
Where we identify higher-risk categories, we reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence of policies, training, and controls that address modern slavery risks. These audits may include site visits, document reviews, and interviews, conducted by our team or by competent third parties. Failure to meet our ethical standards may result in corrective action plans, closer monitoring, or termination of the business relationship.
Employee Awareness, Training, and Responsibilities
All employees are expected to act with integrity and to help safeguard against modern slavery in our business and supply chain. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management, receive guidance on identifying potential indicators of exploitation, coercion, or trafficking.
Supervisors and managers are responsible for ensuring that all workers engaged by Belgravia Carpet Cleaners, including temporary and agency staff, have the legal right to work, understand their terms and conditions, and are paid fairly and transparently. We do not charge recruitment fees, and we prohibit any practices that restrict a worker's freedom of movement or ability to leave employment.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, contractors, suppliers, and any other stakeholders to report concerns about modern slavery, unsafe working conditions, unethical behaviour, or breaches of this statement. Concerns can be raised in person with a manager or senior member of the business, or through existing internal reporting and grievance procedures.
All reports are treated seriously and handled sensitively. We will investigate allegations promptly and, where appropriate, involve external authorities. We do not tolerate retaliation or victimisation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, and we are committed to protecting the confidentiality of individuals who speak up.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility requiring continuous improvement. Each year, we review our policies, risk assessments, due diligence procedures, and training materials to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to our operations.
As part of this annual review, we consider any incidents reported, audit findings, changes in legislation, and developments in best practice. Where necessary, we update our procedures, strengthen controls, and enhance staff training. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed and approved at least annually by the leadership of Belgravia Carpet Cleaners and will be updated to reflect our evolving efforts to combat modern slavery in all its forms.
